Funding Available for septic systems

ATTENTION CLERMONT COUNTY HOMEOWNERS!

CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO - The Clermont County General Health District will begin accepting applications on Monday, February 9, 2009 for the annual Septic Rehab Program. This program utilizes Community Development Block Grant Funds to assist homeowners with repairs to malfunctioning septic systems or to replace systems which are beyond repair. The program can also assist homeowners in connecting to accessible public sewer systems.

Each qualifying homeowner could potentially receive up to $14,000 toward the cost of repairing or replacing their existing septic system or connecting to a public sewer system. In 2008, the Septic Rehab Program provided assistance to 12 Clermont County homeowners.

Homeowners must meet certain requirements to qualify for the program; the applicant must be the homeowner and reside at the property, property taxes and basic system assessment fees must be paid up to the current date, and the homeowner must meet Section 8 income guidelines and asset limitations. The program is not available for homes without an existing septic system, rental properties, or properties being purchased by land contract.

Application packets for the Septic Rehab Program are available by contacting Donna Hart at (513) 732-7601. There is no application fee; completed applications must be returned to the Clermont County General Health District by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009.
